Project Overview

TEMS Solar completed a bespoke domestic solar and battery installation for a homeowner on Hayling Island, designed to maximise energy generation throughout the entire day. The property’s roof layout allowed panels to be installed across north, east, south, and west-facing aspects, creating an ideal opportunity to extend generation from early morning through to late evening.

The homeowner’s goal was to increase energy independence, reduce electricity costs, and intelligently manage when solar energy and stored battery power were used.

System Design & Technology

The solar PV system comprises 20 x AIKO 510W solar panels, delivering a total installed capacity of 10.2 kWp. These high-efficiency panels were distributed across multiple roof aspects to ensure balanced generation throughout the day.

The system is powered by a Huawei 6kW hybrid inverter, selected for its efficiency, reliability, and seamless integration with battery storage and optimisation technologies. Energy storage is provided by a Huawei Luna battery with 7kWh of usable capacity, enabling surplus solar generation to be stored and used during peak tariff periods or in the evening.

To maximise performance across the multiple roof aspects, Huawei optimisers were installed on each panel. These provide module-level optimisation, improved generation in variable conditions, and detailed system monitoring.

A key feature of the installation is the inclusion of the Huawei EMMA (Energy Management Assistant) system. EMMA intelligently monitors household consumption, solar generation, and battery status, optimising:

  • Energy usage throughout the day

  • Battery charging from surplus solar

  • Battery discharging during peak electricity pricing periods

This ensures the homeowner gains maximum financial benefit from both their solar and battery system.

Installation & Delivery

TEMS Solar carefully designed and installed the system to balance output across all roof orientations while maintaining a clean and discreet aesthetic. The installation was completed efficiently with minimal disruption, and the system was fully commissioned and optimised for the homeowner’s usage profile.
