Battery Storage: 1 × Fox ECS 8.6 kWh High Voltage bat
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a domestic solar PV installation in Reading, combining battery storage with solar energy diversion to further increase on-site energy usage. The homeowner’s goal was to reduce electricity and hot water costs while maximising the value of the solar energy generated at the property.
Following a detailed site survey and assessment of household energy demand, a tailored system was designed to balance generation, storage, and solar diversion.
Design & Installation
The 12-panel JA Solar array was installed to optimise solar generation within the available roof space while maintaining a neat and unobtrusive appearance.
The Fox H1 5.0kW hybrid inverter manages solar generation, household consumption, and battery charging, while the Fox ECS 8.6 kWh high-voltage battery stores excess solar energy for use later in the day. When the battery is fully charged, surplus energy is automatically diverted by the iBoost system to heat the home’s hot water cylinder, ensuring minimal exported energy is wasted.
All equipment was installed by TEMS Solar’s in-house team, with careful attention paid to cable management, system layout, and overall finish to ensure long-term reliability and visual appeal.
Performance & Benefits
The completed system delivers a wide range of benefits, including:
-
Efficient solar generation from a 4.86 kWp PV array
-
Increased self-consumption through battery storage
-
Reduced gas or electricity use for hot water via solar diversion
-
Lower overall energy bills
-
Improved energy independence
-
Reduced household carbon emissions
By combining battery storage with an iBoost, the homeowner is able to make use of solar energy across both electrical and hot water demands.
Conclusion
This Reading installation demonstrates how integrating solar PV, battery storage, and energy diversion technology can significantly enhance the performance of a domestic renewable energy system. Using reliable JA Solar panels and Fox hybrid technology, TEMS Solar delivered a smart, efficient, and future-ready solution tailored to the homeowner’s needs.
