Project Overview

TEMS Solar delivered a fully integrated solar PV, battery storage, and emergency backup solution for a detached home in Haslemere. The homeowner wanted a system that not only reduced energy bills and increased self-consumption, but also provided seamless backup power during grid outages — without the complexity of separate systems or manual intervention.

Following a detailed site survey and energy assessment, a robust, intelligent energy system was designed using GivEnergy’s fully compatible product ecosystem.

System Design & How It Works

At the heart of the system is the GivEnergy HY 5.0 hybrid inverter, which manages power flow between the solar PV array, household loads, battery storage, and the electricity grid.

The GivEnergy All-in-One 13.5 kWh battery integrates seamlessly with the hybrid inverter via the GivEnergy Gateway, creating a single, coordinated energy system:

  • During the day, solar energy generated by the PV array is first used to power the home

  • Any surplus energy is automatically stored in the All-in-One battery

  • Once the battery is charged, additional excess can be exported to the grid

  • In the evening or during periods of low generation, stored energy is discharged to power the home, reducing grid imports

The GivEnergy Gateway plays a critical role by acting as the system’s control and safety interface. In the event of a power cut, the Gateway automatically disconnects the property from the grid and enables Emergency Home Power (EHP). This allows the hybrid inverter and battery to continue supplying power to designated backup circuits using stored energy and, where available, live solar generation — all without any manual switching.

Because the inverter, battery, and Gateway are designed to work together, the transition between grid-connected and backup operation is fast, stable, and seamless.

Installation

The 15 high-efficiency Jinko 445W panels were installed in a balanced layout to maximise generation while maintaining a clean appearance. Internally, the inverter, All-in-One battery, and Gateway were installed as a coordinated system, with careful attention paid to cable routing, isolation, and accessibility.

All works were carried out by TEMS Solar’s in-house installation team, ensuring compliance with current regulations, safe operation, and a high-quality finish throughout.

Performance & Benefits

The integrated system provides the homeowner with:

  • Strong solar generation from a 6.68 kWp PV array

  • Large-capacity battery storage for evening and overnight use

  • Intelligent energy management via a fully integrated system

  • Automatic backup power during grid outages

  • Reduced reliance on grid electricity

  • Lower energy bills and increased energy security

  • Greater resilience against power cuts

  • Reduced household carbon emissions

The unified GivEnergy ecosystem ensures reliable performance, easy monitoring, and long-term scalability.

Conclusion

This Haslemere installation demonstrates the benefits of using a fully integrated renewable energy system. By combining GivEnergy’s HY hybrid inverter, All-in-One battery, and Gateway, TEMS Solar delivered a seamless, intelligent, and resilient energy solution that meets both everyday energy needs and emergency backup requirements.
