Multi-Roof Solar & Battery Installation – Alton, Hampshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a large residential solar and battery installation in Alton, Hampshire. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation by utilising both the main south-facing roof and the garage roof, alongside battery storage to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
System Design & Specifications
The installation features a substantial solar array using 22 JA SOLAR 370W modules, distributed across the property's south-facing roof and garage. This layout makes effective use of the available roof space to support household energy demand.
A GivEnergy 5kW hybrid inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The installation includes GivEnergy 5.2kWh and 2.6kWh batteries, providing a combined storage capacity of 7.8kWh. This allows surplus solar electricity generated during the day to be stored for use during the evening or periods of lower solar production.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the large panel array split between the main roof and the garage. Using both roof areas enabled TEMS Solar to accommodate more panels, while the combined battery system provides additional flexibility in how the home's solar energy is used.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Renewable energy generation across two roof areas
Increased self-consumption through 7.8kWh of battery storage
Efficient use of the south-facing roof and garage roof
Reduced reliance on grid electricity
Greater flexibility in household energy management
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how combining multiple roof areas with expandable battery storage can help maximise the benefits of residential solar. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution designed to make effective use of the available space, increase solar self-consumption, and support long-term household energy savings.
