East-West Solar & Battery Installation – Solihull, Warwickshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Solihull, Warwickshire. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation across east and west-facing roof sections, combining a large solar array with battery storage to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
System Design & Specifications
The installation delivers a total solar PV capacity of 6.64kWp using 16 TRINA SOLAR 415W modules. The panels were distributed across the east and west-facing roofs, making efficient use of the available space while allowing the system to capture sunlight at different times of the day.
A GivEnergy 5kW hybrid inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The installation includes a GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery, allowing surplus electricity generated during daylight hours to be stored for use during the evening or periods of lower solar production.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the large east-west solar array. Panels on the east-facing roof can capture morning sunlight, while those on the west-facing roof can contribute later in the day. This arrangement helps extend the potential generation window and makes effective use of both roof surfaces.
The 9.5kWh battery provides additional flexibility, enabling the homeowner to store surplus solar electricity and use it when needed.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Solar generation across east and west-facing roof areas
Extended potential generation from morning into the late afternoon
Increased self-consumption through 9.5kWh battery storage
Reduced reliance on grid electricity
More flexible household energy management
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how an east-west solar configuration can make effective use of available roof space while supporting energy generation throughout the day. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution combining TRINA SOLAR modules, GivEnergy hybrid inverter technology, and battery storage to support efficient renewable energy use and long-term household savings.
