Solar & Battery Installation – Oban, Argyllshire

Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Oban, Argyllshire. The system was designed to provide strong renewable energy generation alongside battery storage, helping the homeowner maximise self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.

System Design & Specifications
The installation delivers a total solar PV capacity of 7.06kWp using 17 TRINA SOLAR 415W modules. The array was designed to make effective use of the available roof space while providing reliable renewable energy generation throughout the day.

A GivEnergy 5kW hybrid inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The installation is paired with a GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery, allowing surplus energy generated during daylight hours to be stored and used during the evening or periods of lower solar output. \the high capacity battery system also allows the make use of cheaper off-peak tariff electricity to charge the battery overnight for use during the day, helping the homeowner to save money even during the long Scottish winters with low solar levels.

Installation Highlights
The combination of a substantial solar array, hybrid inverter and high-capacity battery provides a balanced and efficient home energy solution. The 9.5kWh battery enables the homeowner to retain more of their own generated electricity, improving self-consumption and providing greater flexibility in when that energy is used.

Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:

  • Strong renewable energy generation from a 7.06kWp solar array

  • Increased self-consumption through 9.5kWh battery storage

  • Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid

  • Greater flexibility in household energy usage

  • Smart energy management with GivEnergy hybrid technology

Conclusion
This project demonstrates how combining a substantial solar PV array with high-capacity battery storage can deliver meaningful energy and cost-saving benefits. TEMS Solar provided a tailored solution focused on efficiency, reliability, and long-term household energy performance.
